I Love Music is, inevitably, the Freaky Trigger discussion forum. It uses a Q & A format – somebody (could be me, could be you) puts up a question (“Where the hell is Tanya?” for example), and everybody else posts their answers, which in turn might spark new questions, etc. etc. I’ve put up two questions to kick things off.

It’s going to cover anything we talk about here and on the rest of the site – specifically, whenever we run a long piece, I’ll start a forum topic about it (whether anyone answers or not). Anyway, I Love Music is there for you to use and I hope you use it and like it.

- My blog post, ten years ago today, announcing setting up ILM (later ILX), which has now wasted centuries of man-hours across the globe. I’ll be going for a beer later to celebrate.

Digression on the history of blogging: If Blogger’s 2000 iteration had launched with comments enabled ILX would never have existed. There was a window of two or three years when the amateur could set up their own website but any ‘community’ built around the site generally involved finding like-minded other sites, rather than engaging with readers. The age of ‘webrings’ and early blogospheres where many - sometimes most - of your posts would be replies to other blogs. (One of the things I find attractive about Tumblr is that it resurrects and formalises this idea.)

Or of course you could set up a linked forum - hence ILM. Happy Birthday!
