It’s Not About The B-Bling B-Bling

Also I was talking to Lex and others in the pub about Jessie J and we were basically admitting that she’d moved from “GO AWAY” to a secret - not quite admiration, but respect maybe - for her unwavering commitment to being as terrible as possible in every creative decision all the time. “Love to hate” is not as well-populated a category as the cliche would have you believe but JJ falls into it.

Also also, I listened to “Price Tag” because some people voted it into the Freaky Trigger songs of the year list, I think what I really detest about it - and there’s a long list - is the bit at the very start where she goes “COCONUT MAAN”, like “Yeah hi, I’m Jessie J and I’m in the studio with my very cool friend COCONUT MAN, we’re kicking back but I’ve got this urge now to ‘lay down’ my song Price Tag, it’s just the kind of creative vibe we have, me and COCONUT MAN, I’ve probably got a bunch of friends with crazy nicknames and you’ve just stumbled onto us being all laid back and authentic, so play that beat COCONUT MAN, and by play that beat I mean quite literally press “play” on the expensive “beat” Dr Luke gave me. Seen?
