Rereading William Mayne: the intractable moral knot of the 20th century’s greatest author for children, examined at Freaky Trigger.
Really looking forward to more of this series, particularly recommended for people interested in:
- Writing about and for children and what makes it work
- The relationship between a monster’s monstrousness and the rest of their life (and creative output)
This second is a pretty thorny and uncomfortable topic to address - not that the first is easy - but I can’t think of anyone I’d have more faith in dealing with it well.
