Was reminded of this magazine yesterday. On the one hand, well done Marvel for selling people the opportunity to read your adverts. On the other, this was a BIG THING for me when I was starting to read American comics - a 30 pence pocket internet, a way I could learn all the Hallowed History Of Marvel (tiny print recaps of 1972 Ghost Rider books! Er, yeah!) and “keep up” on all the stuff I couldn’t afford to buy. Marvel in the mid-late 80s was in almost every way that matters terrible, but like the humble duckling you don’t get to pick what you imprint on.
(I also quite like the way they would doggedly give cover space to complete no-hoper projects like STEELGRIP STARKEY.)
