My brother posted that macro that shows why hip hop lyrics are stupid and why post-hardcore has better lyrics.
Naturally, I jumped in because I hate that image, its selective quoting as well as the racial undertones.
Oh, that one where they quote the chorus from…

Yes, yes, this. I have the biggest oppositional/false competitive problem ever because I’m internally so punk I’m surprised I don’t set fire to my own leg every time I make a gant chart but the need to put every fucking artist as ‘[new artist] is nothing like that BULLSHIT [old artist]’ or visa versa is just fucking irritating, especially on a critical level.
Yeah, I kept meaning to do a post on this during the Olympics, so many pieces would suddenly turn sideways for a little dig along the lines of:
Oh the Opening Ceremony was so creative (NOT LIKE BEIJING)
Oh the athletes are such great role models (NOT LIKE FOOTBALLERS)
Whether I agree with these asides isn’t the point, and I’m not opposed to negative opposition-making on principle, but if you want to make that your point, MAKE THAT YOUR POINT, have the argument, explore it, don’t just throw it in as a self-congratulatory or finger-wagging aside.
