Stuff continues to happen in the Pop World Cup. Currently underway - i.e. you can still vote in them: all previous songs are accessible on the main site though - are:

Denmark v Holland: The Danes went for a Eurovision entry, Holland for an apparently jazzy pop singer-songwriter (“Tulip Allen” as one wag in the comments has put it)

Cameroon v Japan: Languid stuff from Cameroon with bonus miaow noises - the Japan boss avoided the obvious J-Pop route and went for herky-jerk indiepop thrash.

Italy v Paraquay: Paraguayan pop metal against some ferociously grinding darkwave from Italy - unusual tactics

And today’s game, New Zealand v Slovakia: blog disco from NZ against some Slovakian punkers’ acoustic tribute to/parody of R’n’B (a lot better than that sounds!)

I am loving running this event, I have to say - such a variety of music, and it’s fascinating to see people’s reactions to it all.
