I was utterly allergic to Best Coast and ended up enjoying Wavves. I think that’s because I listen to almost no Wavves-like music, whereas I can’t think of any circumstances I’d rather hear Best Coast than a good teenpop record.

That’s exactly the sort of relative equivalency I was afraid of.

Does this count as a teenpop record?

A little young for the genre I think - or indeed a little old: Jedward seem pitched equally at 6 year olds and student ironists, and who’s to begrudge either group their fun.
